Does AI need to be everywhere? No. Can you totally avoid AI at Sustainable Hosting? Absolutely. But there is a special sort of customer in mind here: the under-served people who have a great, socially- or environmentally-positive idea without any real budget or tech skills to give it life. We see this as part of our commitment to social responsibility.
Why most AI pipelines are wasteful, and what we do instead
The default approach is to throw the largest available model at every task and pay for it in energy. We use smaller, efficient models where they are sufficient, batch operations rather than firing off requests one at a time, keep inference overhead down, and run the whole thing on renewable-powered infrastructure.
The workflow
- Content outline and site structure drafted with AI assistance.
- AI also adds short draft content to pages it creates, written to match your existing tone, then edited by a person. No unreviewed machine prose goes live.
- You are invited to review and make any changes you want to inside the structure. Don’t worry, you’re unlikely to break anything we can’t restore from a backup.
- Look good? Then it’s image optimization, with suggested alt text that a human checks.
- We ask the AI to find anything we missed, and fill in metadata generated rather than hand-typed.
- Accessibility checks and the performance budget applied before launch, not after.
What you end up with

- Versioned, reproducible site configuration, so it can be rebuilt.

Common questions
Is this just letting AI write the website?
No, and we would not sell that. AI accelerates structure, first drafts and quality checks. Humans edit for clarity, accuracy, accessibility and voice. The failure mode of AI-written sites is confident nonsense, and the only known fix is a person who reads it.
Will it damage our search ranking?
Done carelessly, yes — mass-produced pages that help nobody are exactly what search engines are now built to demote. Done our way, no: original material, no duplication, and content written to be useful.
Is it really green?
We minimize inference, prefer small models, and run on renewables. AI is not free of impact and we are not going to pretend otherwise — but it can be a great deal cheaper than the industry default.
