Green Cycles is our carbon-aware marketplace for GPU compute: a place to rent the processing power that AI and machine-learning work needs, from providers whose hardware runs on renewable electricity — and to run it at the times and places where the grid is cleanest. Currently in development.
It exists because of a mismatch we kept running into. Training and inference are the fastest-growing electricity demand on the planet, and almost nobody buying compute is told where their workload physically ran, or what was burning to power it. Meanwhile, a great deal of perfectly good GPU hardware — in studios, labs, small providers and spare racks — sits idle for most of the week.
Green Cycles connects those two facts. It is a separate service with its own site, run on the same principles as our hosting: renewable power, figures we publish rather than imply, and a human on the other end of the email.
Why „carbon-aware“ is a stronger claim than „green“
„Green compute“ usually means the provider buys renewable energy certificates somewhere in the world and calls the account settled. Carbon-aware means something more specific and more demanding: the work is scheduled around the grid.
The carbon intensity of electricity moves constantly. A batch job that can wait six hours, or move to a different country, can easily be responsible for a fraction of the emissions of the same job run at the wrong moment on the wrong grid. Most AI work is not urgent to the minute — training runs, fine-tuning, batch inference and rendering are all happy to be scheduled. That flexibility is the single largest lever available, and it is the one nearly everyone ignores.
- Providers are verified, not self-declared. Renewable supply has to be evidenced before a provider is listed as such.
- Flexible work is scheduled for clean windows. If your job can wait, it waits for the grid rather than the queue.
- Idle hardware is put back to work. Using a GPU that already exists beats manufacturing another one, by a wide margin.
- You are told what it cost the planet. Not a badge — an actual figure for the run you paid for.
Two sides of the same marketplace
If you need compute
Researchers, agencies, small AI teams and anyone who has looked at the big clouds‘ GPU pricing and winced. You get capacity at sensible rates, a clear answer about where it ran and on what power, and the option to trade a few hours of patience for a much smaller footprint.
If you have idle hardware
Studios, labs and small providers with GPUs that are busy a few hours a day. Rent out the rest. Verified renewable supply earns a lower commission, because we would rather the clean capacity were the profitable capacity.
Where it is up to
Green Cycles is building out its provider network, so capacity is limited and being allocated deliberately rather than sold on a landing page. If you have a workload in mind, or hardware you would like listed, the useful thing to do is tell us about it — we would rather have the conversation than take an order we cannot fill well.
It is a separate company site with its own signup, its own terms and its own pricing. Nothing about your hosting with us changes either way.
