We have been carbon-neutral since before it was a category, and the sites we build reflect it. Every site is developed and hosted on renewable power. The servers sit in carbon-neutral datacenters and the design work happens in a solar-powered office.
Sustainable development is not only about the code
Clean, efficient code matters, but it is the smaller half. The bigger wins are in the decisions before the code: how many images, how large, how many third-party scripts, how much is rebuilt on every request. We optimize assets, cache properly, and remove plugins rather than accumulate them. The result loads faster, uses less energy, and behaves better on an old phone or a slow connection — which is what a lot of the world is actually browsing on.

- Asset hygiene: modern image formats, sensible loading, minification.
- Responsible analytics, and privacy designed in rather than bolted on.
- Accessibility first, following WCAG patterns rather than retrofitting them.
- Caching and delivery strategies chosen for actual energy reduction.
- Structured content, so a redesign does not mean rebuilding everything.
The stack
- WordPress, with a deliberately short plugin list.
- WP-CLI workflows and staging as a default, not an upgrade.
- Headless or Jamstack where that is genuinely the better answer.
Common questions
Does this only work for minimalist sites?
No. A rich, image-heavy site can be efficient with the right patterns, caching and delivery. The constraint shapes the design; it does not flatten it.
Can you improve a site we already have?
Yes. Auditing an existing site and retrofitting it toward these goals is often better value than a rebuild, and we will say so if it is.
Who actually does the work?
People. We do use our own Carbon-Negative AI to accelerate structure and first drafts, but a human creates or edits all content before it ships.
